Participants in the Critical Skills Institute have the option of participating in an online course supporting their implementation of the model.  Those taking this option have the same time commitment of five professional development days and two hours of  seminars per month as for all Institute participants.

Particular attention in this Institute is given to understanding the experiential learning cycle and to developing instructional strategies for:

v    developing and maintaining a collaborative classroom community,
v    setting standards for quality work,
v    targeting critical skills and dispositions within curricular frameworks and subject areas,
v    designing problem-based challenges that provide a meaningful context for learning,
v    using performance-based assessment tools,
v    planning and structuring student exhibitions of learning, and
v    guiding reflection and debriefing processes.
